Thinking About Prayer Habits
Describe your prayer habits. How often do you find yourself praying outside of church, Sunday school, or a small-group meeting?
A Pattern for Prayer
Write down the word ACTS at the top of a piece of paper. Use this word as an acronym for a personal prayer method: adoration, confession, thanksgiving, and supplication. Adoration: Write a prayer of adoration. Confession: Confess your wrongdoings to God. Thanksgiving: Make a list of what you’re thankful for. Supplication: List the people and situations you want to bring to God’s attention.
God As a Friend
Listening God, allow me to talk to you as a close friend. (Imagine a conversation between yourself and God over a cup of coffee or tea. What stories do you share? How does the conversation make you feel?)
Finding Your Way in Prayer
What type of prayer practice works for you? Is it easier for some people to pray than it is for others? Why or why not?
