Prayer

God of stillness, it’s easy to overlook you in these busy days. Create in me a longing for your quiet presence, that I may stop, breathe, and listen for your wisdom and instruction. Amen.

Carry These Words in Your Heart Today

God waits for me in the stillness.

Today’s Picture

This is a picture from Penuel Ridge, the retreat center I refer to in The Uncluttered Heart today. This is the place where I learned to be silent, to be still inside. The building in the picture is “The Well,” a round chapel made with straw-bale construction.

Leading a Life with God: The Practice of Spiritual Leadership
Daniel Wolpert

This book for spiritual leaders inspired me so much that I wanted to give a copy to all the pastors I knew. Wolpert does a great job of identifying spiritual practices that help create and nurture leaders grounded in spirituality. As Wolpert concludes, “The spiritual life is way too precious to keep to ourselves but rather is a banquet to be shared.”
